This book provided an insightful look into the progression of ALS, with some very life like characters. Much like Genova's prior work of 'Still Alice' of which both deal with the progression of a disease that can't be stopped and slowly erodes everything away. ALS is well known within the current media through the ALS bucket challenge and through celebrities such as Stephen Hawking and former Rangers footballer Fernando RIcksen, however we never truly know the impact of such a disease unless we actually live alongside it. This book aims to discuss this disease in such as way, showcasing how the central characters and supporting characters change their outlook as the disease and novel progresses.
