Good writing, just not for me

Four long ago friends are summoned to a house they spent their post graduation celebrations in 20 years ago.

Neither Judith, Stephen, Cressida or Bill have seen each other since their graduation and passing of their dear friend Marmion who spent so much time with them in their choir group.

Old feelings of romance and friendship quickly emerge, but why have they been called back to this house?

I must admit this book didn't quite do it for me. Crowther tends to digress a lot in her story telling my describing everyone and every thing to the nth degree. Meaning that the plot feels very slow.

Not that this book is badly written. Crowther is articulate and intelligent in her storyline, it's just that this style of writing isn't for me. I like a little left to the imagination of the reader (and it's wonderful what one person takes from a story to another) and a little more focus on a plot.

So although not entirely my kind of preference of writing, I can see why so many would enjoy the imagery that Crowther portrays.

I would like to thank Readers First and Bonnier Zaffre for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
