I have now tried to read this book multiple times. The story itself really appeals to me, five nearly graduated friends travel to the Lake District and the events tear the group apart and when they return twenty years later wounds are reopened and secrets come out. The plot as I said sounds gripping and interesting but something just falls flat when I open this book. I can’t get into the characters and just am not interested in trying to find out more about them. The plot also doesn’t start gripping, I’m actually unsure what’s going on for the first part. I thought perhaps I wasn’t in the mood the first time I tried but on the second attempt I still couldn’t get into it. The cover is a bit bland and I wouldn’t pick it up in the shop either. I’m not going to give up on this one though and I’m determined to finish it one day but for now it’s 3 stars from me
