Callie is looking after Trevor, who I assumed to be her son. She appears to have a strange relationship with Buddy, Trevor’s dad. Buddy is a very muscly guy and prone to violence.
Months before, Callie had discovered a secret camera hidden in the living room. She wasn’t sure what it was for and thought it was linked to Buddy’s work.
It turns out that Callie is 14 years old and the babysitter for Trevor. Buddy has been having an affair with her and filming it to show others.
The whole story is very uncomfortable reading and I felt sorry for Callie who was effectively groomed by Buddy.
I’d be interested to see what happens in the rest of the book as this part was set in 1998.
