This opening chapter is so visceral and vivid that at first I wasn't sure I would be able to handle reading more, but as the story progresses I became so invested. You are initially led to believe Callie is Trevor's mother and I didn't see the babysitter twist coming at all. If a twist can come that unexpectedly at the start I would love to know how many other twists and turns will unfold as you read on. I did see the situation with the video camera for what it was but I love the despondency of Callie that makes the fact she didn't see what it was for more part of the story and not poor writing. This is in fact brilliantly written.
