I know this review is going to make me a bit unpopular with hardy Karin Slaughter fans, but I found this latest novel of hers, False Witness a bit of a slog. My first impression was wow! that's a thick book with over 400 pages, but if it grips you, then that is not a problem. However, I felt there was a lot of repetition in the storyline, together with lengthy explanations of the drug culture and Leigh's addiction.

The storyline itself was a good one, the characters well written and the book was definitely a thrilling, if overlong ride. The relationship between the sisters, Callie and Leigh, added to the push and pull of the story especially when a case that connects with Callie's troubled teenage past lands on her desk.

The fact that it was set during the rise of the pandemic made it more interesting and current, and added an extra element of danger and panic to the story.
