False Witness tells the story of a lawyer Leigh who is charged with defending a rapist, Andrew. Whilst Leigh knows Andrew is guilty he holds a power over her by knowing about some dark secrets of her own.

Whilst I enjoyed this thriller I found that it was quite a slow read and took me a while to get through. The plot was good but I think that some of the chapters were a bit too long for my preference as it slowed the pace down a bit.

It was interesting to see that Covid has now started making an appearance in novels. With the novel being mainly set in 2021 it was necessary to include coronavirus and I enjoyed seeing examples of our current life in print. However sometimes it felt a bit overkill and that I was reading a story about the pandemic rather than reading a thriller - I don't need to be told every single time somebody puts a mask on for example!

Overall it was a good book, but personally I felt that the pace was a bit slow.
