False Witness is a book that simply grabs you and doesn't let go from start to finish. I've been a fan of Karin Slaughter for some time and was delighted to see another stand alone novel. Leigh (or should I say Harleigh) has a seemingly comfortable life, she has a good job, a daughter and gets on well with her ex. But to say that she has a murky past is the understatement of the year. And it very rapidly catches up with her. The characters are complex and very believable, we live the story with them and there are aspects we can associate with. The book is very modern in that it incorporates issues of covid and things like abuse and drugs (without giving too much away) it really is a page turner and didn't take me long to read. If you're looking for a thriller then make this that book! Some parts will shock you and there are twists and turns you won't see until they are right upon you. It will leave you breathless
