I think I have read a couple of Karin's books previously, but I know that she has quite an impressive fan base so I was really excited to read her new book. It definitely didn't disappoint!

I found the first chapter, setting the scene with Callie and Buddy, really shocking, and it definitely made me want to read on. Andrew (Trevor) is written to come across as quite psychopathic from the moment he is introduced, and the vulnerability of Leigh throughout his trial comes across clearly. I loved reading about both of the sister's histories and how their devastating past has shaped the rest of their lives. Every chapter left me wanting to read more, and I definitely got through this book faster than I anticipated!

The integration of COVID and the previous year or two in real life definitely added a new and interesting spin on the usual murder mystery/thriller novel; however, I don't think I'm a big fan of this. I don't know whether it's still a bit too soon for me, but I don't think the addition of COVID and the difficulties added much to the story, and almost made it seem too 'real'. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would 100% recommend to other thriller/crime-lovers!
