Firstly it is absolutely crazy to read a book set in the pandemic. It made me wonder how many more books will be set In these years, mentioning masks and social distancing.
I did enjoy this book but it was looooong! I could have done with like 100 less pages, occasionally my mind started drifting and I felt we were repeating events over and over (which may have been the point) but it became a bit boring.
The book is traumatic, I’ve never read a book by this author before but she writes about trauma and distressing subjects well but definitely not the themes for everyone.
There are a few twists but this isn’t really a full of twists thriller it’s more learning about these characters and the terrible events that they had to endure. I did kinda want more from the end, I got it and it wrapped the story up well but I was sort of expecting a twist ending where everything wasn’t exactly what it seemed but instead it was just more heart break.
Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
