This was an incredible read, brutal and terrifying, but incredible nevertheless. From page 1, you are desperate to see the characters prevail over the evil detailed. You can feel Leigh’s exhaustion and desperation, but she continues to try and find a way out of her situation. The characters are all morally grey and it made me think about whether anyone deserves to die, or whether the characters were making the right decision – or if there even was a ‘right’ decision. As a reader, you are not privy to what the other characters know, and nor is Leigh. It is great to read the book from her perspective and find out aspects of the story as Leigh’s character does.

The story itself is very emotive and there are numerous trigger warnings (rape, beatings etc.), but I struggled to put it down. I really enjoyed the legal procedural aspects, as the book includes these without getting bogged down in the details. The references are funny and relatable, which adds to the authenticity of the story – for example, it is set in the new normal COVID world. Overall, I absolutely loved it and would recommend it!
