Oh my goodness, this was heart in your mouth stuff! I knew what to expect from Karin as I had already read Pretty Girls which imprinted on my mind. Leigh is an attorney who has been personally asked to defend a rich young man on a rape charge. It's a big case, and great for her career... but on meeting him she realises it's no coincidence and brings her back to 20yrs ago when she was a child.
The story darts from past to present, as you learn more about the event 20 years ago and slowly understand the connections. A dark thriller with distasteful undertones, triggers for rape and abuse. Leigh needs help from her down and out sister and although it's not an ideal situation there is some bonding to be had. I rooted for both girls throughout the story and felt my emotions running up and down as I read. The ending was satisfying, providing the detail needed to crescendo and then settle. Edge of the seat reading, Karin did it again!
