It has been a while since I've read any Karin Slaughter but this stand alone thriller was a good reintroduction to the author. I found the first 100-150 pages hard going and hdpad to reread a couple of sections but couldn't put it down for the last 100 pages. In classic Karin Slaughter style there is plenty of graphic details including drug use and sexual abuse.

Leigh and Callie are sisters who most definitely did not have an easy start in life. This book starts off on one fateful night in 1998. The events of that evening lead the girls to live two very different lives and the rest of the book is set in 2021 where someone who was present on that evening in 1998 catches up with them and is out for revenge.

It is the first book I've read that is set during covid and I found the references to mask wearing etc interesting as it is now such a part of normal life.
