I was hooked on this right from the very start! Even though I don't think I have actually read any of Karin Slaughter's before, although I have definately heard of her! It is quite dark in some places, but not unecassarily so. I think it is relevant to help you feel how the characters feel and understand what they have been through to get to the point we find them in the book and why they react to situations in the way that they do. I didn't think there was any obvious `twist', but more the telling of the story and how you learnt about the different stories of the different characters and how they all interact with each other. I will definately be reading some more of Karin Slaughter's books now I have read this one.
I also really liked the cover of the book and it would definately catch my eye in a shop and make me pick it up due to the deep colour.....
