As someone who has read and loved every Karin Slaughter book, I was so excited to read this and even more so to receive an ARC. I was not disappointed, I wasn't sure how I would feel when I realised the setting was fairly Covid-centric, however, this didn't actually detract from my enjoyment. As always, the storyline was gritty, graphic, and difficult to read at times but it's written so well with all the range of emotion in the text that made it a favourite of the year, if not of all time. I didnt figure out how the story would play out at the end, although I did have some theories of smaller reveals that were right. The suspense kept me saying 'just one more chapter' to find out what was going to happen to the characters. Every character was written flawlessly and had me rooting for Leigh, Callie, and my underrated favourite Dr Jerry and praying for justice against the antagonists of the story. The ending had me almost shedding a tear and although it wasn't the ending I'd wanted, it fitted with the story and was a logical conclusion for one of the characters, and wrapped up nicely for others. A phenomenal read that I highly recommend!
