Leigh and Callie are sisters, but their lives appear to be completely opposite. Leigh is a lawyer and has a daughter whom she dotes on. Callie on the other hand is a heroin addict, counting down the hours until her next fix. As the book progresses, the reader becomes aware that the sisters are not so different after all. They are both traumatised by a single horrific event, that has the potential to come back to destroy them.

This book is about strength, unconditional love and forgiveness, and the revelation that nothing will stay hidden forever. Although slightly predictable, Slaughter does a fantastic job of linking storylines together, revealing just enough at a time to keep the reader engaged.

I took off a star due to the unnecessary covid references. Although relevant, I felt like the references were random and thrown in there just for relevancy. I felt that the references ruined the flow of the book, and they did not add anything to the storyline.
