The book has a dedication "Always be the person you were born to be" which is rather glib, but is the theme of the book - young Faruq has a greta interest in, and a flair for, cooking. Not just any cooking - the Caribbean style cooking that his grandmother does every day for the family. Of course, this is not what his family see as his way forward in life. The book is a celebration of Caribbean culture and food. It is very highly coloured and is a cartoon type book. The text, especially where the grandma speaks, is in Caribbean English. Bright and cheerful - but a niche market.
