Faruq and the Wiri Wiri is a brilliant book that's perfect for introducing young children to foods and cultures they may be unaware of and have never previously encountered. Sophia Payne introduces her young readers to Faruq and his grandma who does all the cooking for the family. Faruq is fascinated by the different flavours and the process of cooking but his grandma doesn't encourage him as she would like him to become a doctor. Not only is the author's content perfectly judged to appeal to young children but Sandhya Prabhat's illustrations will keep them entranced with all the detailed drawings. Looking forward to giving this lovely book to me great nephew. I know he'll love it.
