I read this with my little nephew who is 4. He absolutely loved it. It's a really fun read, it's really colourful with beautiful illustrations. He has since been asking for the Farooq book and he's had it read to him a few times. This would be a great book to have in a school library to help with the issue of some children not being able to find books with children who look like them in it. In our case it has been refreshing to read about a family that is different from our own. There is a lovely message in there about not giving up on your dreams even in the face of family pressures. This book will make you hungry describing all the lovely dishes but luckily there is a recipe in the back to make some Guyanese lime cookies. We will definitely be trying these at some point. I think this has the potential to become a nice series. I would buy another book about Farooq.
