This is a lovely entertains book. Read this to my class and they listened intently. The beautiful illustrations follow the beautiful story. The little boy wants to be a cook but his grandma wants him to be a doctor like his dad. He goes through the book yearning to cook and the story flows so well. He uses different herbs and learns under the watchable eyes of his mentor. He wants to cook rice and bread and eventually he does all of these things proving he can and it isn’t just females that cook. I love the ethos of the story and a can do attitude the way he doesn’t give up and keeps persevering. He is determined that his love of cooking shines through. This book gives a lovely message of equality integrity and sheer determination that keeps the reader on its toes. Read this book it’s a joy and shows children that if you persevere you can do and be anything you want to be.
