My 4 year old niece really loved this book about a boy and his grandmother cooking together, making memories and having fun in a task that can be shared with the whole family. The colours are vibrant throughout, and the illustrations are both fun and extremely detailed. She has learned about other cultures and their foods from this book, and the addition of the cookie recipe at the end is a nice touch and may also encourage families to start their own tradition around this. This is the kind of book that can be enjoyed again and again, and she has already requested it several times at bedtime. An easy read, but one that can be pored over with questions and research away from the text itself. Indian spices, global cuisine, family traditions, cooking skills and many other discussions can be had using this book as a starter, and of course the lime cookies have been tried and are delicious!
