This is a lovely picture book, with characters from the Caribbean.

Faruq is a little boy who watches his grandmother cooking and wants to do the same. But he is expected to grow up and study to be a doctor so his grandmother won't teach him to cook.
He is also fascinated by the ingredients she grows and uses in her cooking especially the chillies called Wiri Wiri.
One day he is in the garden when he hears a voice. It is the next door neighbour and when he explains, she agrees to teach him to cook and use the special Wiri Wiri peppers.

The illustrations in the book are bright and colourful, and the story is good. There is a recipe at the back of the book that children can try at home, for Guyanese Lime Cookies.

I wanted this book to put into my "Little Free Library" to add a bit of diversity to the selection of children's books in there. I hope the local children will enjoy reading this book and learning about a different culture.
