Despite my children still being young, we were quick to get stuck into this book as soon as it arrived, in order to learn a bit about Guyanese food and culture.
My children's grandparents are Guyanese, and they were immediately able to relate to the story of the Grandma who loved to cook cultural dishes for the whole family. They recognised some of the dishes and enjoyed the language and intonation used by Ajee and Mrs Joseph too.

The illustrations in this book are detail and beautiful and really help bring the story to life.
A story of a boy whose father wants him to be a doctor, but finds his passion for cooking from his grandma. Its realistic, its thought provoking and its really uplifting.

It also includes a recipe for lime cookies, which we are excited to try out and test of our baking is as good as Grandmas🤣
Fantastic story, will be getting a copy for our wider family to enjoy too.
