Well, I wasn’t expecting to like this one, but actually I was pleasantly surprised. First off, I know that I am not the aimed target audience for this one but I still love reading a picture book and seeing whether it would be good for children. I love the front cover of this book - it’s gorgeous with such bright vivid imagery matching the culture. I love how it teaches children about different cultures and in particular how food is dealt with in different cultures and the different traditions that come along with food and celebrations. The two main characters are delightful and you instantly feel a connection to them, despite not being of a similar background. I loved reading this and would happily go back for more so I would definitely rate it for a younger audience - I would say best age 6-12 would be the perfect target audience! Will look out for more from the author.
