Loved the cover, really drew the attention whilst not being complicated. I've never heard of Alan Park's or his detective series before but this first impression was good.

The scene was set quickly, and I soon picked up on the general sense of the character's, although as this isn't the first in the series there were references and sections that would probably have made more sense if familiar with the other book.

Scottish detective McCoy with a fear of the sight of blood, seemed a good character, and the description of the victim and crime scene was the right level of detailed without seeming OTT with the gruesome details.

Good enough start and has potential but nothing in it specifically to shout about.
