I hadn’t encountered Alan Parks before and once I realised this was the second in a series featuring DI Harry McCoy, I thought I might be a bit lost as there seemed to be quite a back story with a lot of the characters. There were some references where I would have benefited from reading the first book but I soon got into the plot and enjoyed it anyway.
This is a great storyline set in 1970s Glasgow, where police protocol was a little... let’s say looser than it is today!
The story is well paced and the characters well drawn, it is an engrossing read and you really do want to read on and find out ‘whodunnit’!
I would definitely look out for more by the author in the future.
