Very grim and very gritty, this book does not shy away from gruesome descriptions and it details exactly what is happening. A very dark tale from Glasgow in the 70s but a thrilling hard to put down book and thoroughly enjoyed even if it did make me cry in the end.

I hadn't initially realised this was book two on Harry McCoy's thrilling adventures but I found it wasn't an issue delving into the book just made me want to grab the first as quick as I could so I could steal further into Detectice McCoy's personal life and see how he handled a previous case.

I really enjoyed reading through the main chapters with McCoy and all of his back and forth banter with the other detectives and the side story of him with Cooper. There were a lot of personal details revealed about McCoy on this book and it was all quite heartbreaking to read and see how it affected him.

I thoroughly enjoyed the writing of the killers segments. Short paragraphs but it really delved into the creepiness off this person that had clearly become so unwound from reality. It was interesting seeing his thought processes and why he did certain things.

I think this book was very well written and found it stood up on the same league as best sellers such as Ian Rankin.

I got sent this book from readers first for an honest review.
