This is book 2 in a series. I only realised it was a series when I started reading the book and as I haven’t read number 1 - I felt I was missing some important back ground information on the characters. Saying that, I don't think it affected my overall enjoyment of the book.
I loved the style of the writing and I loved the crime scene descriptions. I am a fan of crime novels anyway and this one kept me reading. I like the way the main character is a police officer with a shady past (or present?) and these get crossed a lot through the story.
The story itself is about the underground world of crime and thugs, therefore some descriptions are a little gruesome but the author doesn't over describe these.
