To start with i wondered the significance of the 70s setting, but it soon became clear with our main protaganist, although a policeman he seemed to have no qualms about stepping over the line in order to get the information he needs. Definitely would not get away with even a fraction of the things they get up to. And when you are mates with one of the criminal underworld big wigs then things are always going to get messy.

We miss some more in depth back story with this being book 2 of a series, but the previous case is given a cursory mention, enough to let you know there's more to the relationships between these characters. Good to know there is another book already to check out if you like this one - which i have already ordered. Even better/more frustrating getting a sneak peak at the next in the series, how long do we have to wait for that one to be published. I'm definitely invested in more dodgy tales in the career of Harry McCoy
