I really enjoyed this book, it's the first one by this author I have read, but based on this it won't be the last.
Set in 1973 Glasgow, it follows McCoy as he investigates a series of linked murders, the fiancée of a notorious gang bosses daughter, then the boss himself, and finally a top policeman. He knows who the killer is, but finding him and bringing him to justice is a whole different matter.
McCoy is not your average cop...he takes drugs, and his best friend was someone who he met in care, and is also involved in the criminal underworld. He's a complex character, but one I really grew to like as the book went on, and the good news is there is a follow up to come!!
It's not always an easy read, but I think crime fans would enjoy it. Thanks to Readers First for an advance copy.
