This is the first time I have read Alan Parks but had liked the storyline when viewing the first look. This is his second book and the protagonist is Detective McCoy, a man with a past. It would have been helpful to have read the first book, however by the end of February's Son, pieces come together and you find out more about Detective McCoy, his past and the events that have made him the person he is. The book is set within 1970's Glasgow and is a gritty thriller. It has violent scenes of mutilation and murder, which could be gruesome for the faint hearted, but not myself! It had lots of twists and turns and an unexpected outcome. I loved the characters but felt the interaction with Detective McCoy and Wattie, the trainee detective was a tad clumsy. However, the relationship between McCoy and Cooper keeps you intrigued. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and flew through it. Can't wait to read Alan Parks next book Bobby March will live forever.
