This is the third in the Cell 7 books and I presume, from the title, the final installment. I have not read the first 2 books in the series but that does not seem to be a pre-requisite based on the opening chapters.

Where I feel having read the previous books would help is in getting all the characters straight in your head. Each chapter deals with a different character, or set of characters, in one location doing their thing and then the next one will be different people in a whole other place doing other things. It jumps around a lot so you have to pay attention on some level or it could easily become a discordant mess.

Although likened to the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, with the building of The Wall it all feels more like the Escape From films of the 1970s with Kurt Russell. Maybe my perception would change on further reading.
