First to die is a crime/mystery thriller about a group of police detectives who try and find a murder of a civil servant by a highly lethal virus.
I was very impressed by this book as I've never picked up anything by this author before. The writing was good, the plot was decent paced and the partnership of the two main characters DCI Riley and Harris is done so well that you cannot help feeling protective over them.
What I didn't realise is that there seems to be a previous book with the two main characters which is called 'Cut to the bone'. Now usually this would be confusing in terms of the relationships of the characters and background information but it was done so well that I'm willing to let go of the fact it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the book synopsis.
This author is definetly one to watch with his impressive plotline and characters, heseems to have a lot of research. The ending wrapped everything smoothly and left the reader satisfied with the answer of who murdered Julian Leaky?
