It took me a while to get into this book for a number of reasons. I think perhaps if I had read the first in the series, I would have been a little less confused on who all the characters were.

However, it was an interesting plotline. It seemed particularly relevant when they were trying to figure out what had killed the government official around the same time as the Novichok incident in Salisbury. I liked that as the story progressed it was clear that the deaths were not to blame on some ‘evil others’ but in fact someone slightly more relatable suffering from grief. Although there was a lot that needed more in depth explanation.

I really liked the character of Zain. So I would be interested to read more in this series just because of him.

I quite liked Kate and the ongoing backstory which will lead to something more dramatic in future books was intriguing. It will be interesting to find out what happens with all of that.

Overall, I enjoyed it.
