Didn’t enjoy this

I did not enjoy this book. I don’t want to be too harsh because the whole book wasn’t a disappointment but I couldn’t even finish the book. The book states that it is not a religious book but you’d think it was the bible with the amount it references texts from the bible and constantly speaks about Christianity. I understand the author is a very religious guy and he wants to showcase that in his book. But he does not need to mention it so much. He says the book is not for Christians but I was raised as a Christian and even I couldn’t read it so I don’t know how anyone from any other religion could read this book. Also he says at the beginning that this is not a religious book but you would be better off if you were a spiritual person which gives off the vibe that his book won’t work for you if your not spiritual. Now although he doesn’t specify that you have to be Christian it would seem that way by all the passages from the bible that he sights. I had to skip multiple pages just to get back into the actual important facts of the book.
I will admit his book does give out useful information. It’s mostly facts you will have heard before but it’s good to have them confirmed by a doctor and not cosmopolitan.
However, he goes on to talk about bmi and obesity but doesn’t mention the fact that bmi is a totally unfair system to use to measure whether someone is healthy or not. You are healthy when you feel healthy not whether your numbers add up ‘correctly’. He seems almost scared at the thought that people who are overweight will see other people around them who are the same size as them and think ‘oh well this is a normal size so I won’t try to lose weight’; this is a horrible way to look at society, especially as a doctor. However, he does go onto say that obesity can be linked with childhood abuse, growing up in poverty or having a serious illness, he tells people to seek help in these situation and not turn to dieting.
He does include that he believes that diets are not good for anyone which I’m glad he addresses because the diet culture is a very scary and toxic environment to get yourself into.
I do feel like he goes back on himself with his points, saying one things good but then later on that thing is bad.
I don’t want to say all bad things because he does explain complex concepts and make them simple for us non-medical people to understand which I believe makes a person smart.
