In Fit For Purpose Dr Richard Pile explains his belief that there are many factors that influence a person's wellbeing. He believes that to improve our wellbeing and the best possible version of ourselves we all need to examine our physical, mental, social and spiritual awareness. Dr Pile also gives his readers some background into his own life which hasn't always been easy with one son who has serious health problems. Like many busy GPs he has been just as guilty as many people of not having a good work/life balance. He realised he needed to address this balance in order to improve his overall health. In this book he explores some of the factors that can influence our general health such as sleep, nutrition, activity and meaning to life. He explains everything very clearly and this book will undoubtedly prove to be beneficial to many people. A lot is common sense but there are times when we all do things that we know aren't good for us whether it's overworking, allowing ourselves to become overtired, skimping on sleep, eating badly or not making time for our families, friends and ourselves so this is a gentle reminder of what we should be doing. There are many spiritual sections in this book with references to the bible which might not appeal to everyone but overall a very worthwhile read.
