My first impression of Five Little Penguins is I just love it. The illustrations are beautiful. I like the way the penguins are doing different winter related activities and the author asks how many penguins can you see. This book could be used with young children to encourage them to count carefully and for slightly older children to subitise which means to quickly look and recognise how many penguins there are without the need to count.
