A cute and cuddly book
The illustrations are adorable and this book fulfills a cosy vibe which is nice for bedtime. For my nephew, the pictures drew him in to talk about the cold environment in the Antarctic and also about penguins and their young.
I thought the story was nice for its predictability but also for the story or plot. For me the illustrations did a good job in drawing a child into a story. It was warm and a story a child can understand easily.
This book stands out for the illustrations- and the detail in them. These were easily identifiable animals and told a warm story.
Five little penguins would have benefitted from being round off with some facts about penguins as a means of educating as well but also… as a means to start a conversation about a related subject- penguins in the world.
I think this is a very giftable book for a child of 3+
