This is a gorgeously illustrated book for children perfect for a bedtime story during winter/Christmas.

The book is about a family of penguins and appears to be based on free popular children's song five little ducks. On each page there are several flaps for you to open and then count how many penguin chicks you can find under the flaps. Not all the flaps have a penguin chicken beneath them, some have different animals and the number of penguin chicks decrease as you go through the book.

Both my 6 year old son and my 4 year old niece enjoyed reading this book at bedtime. The words in the book were simple enough for the 6 year old to read himself. However as the book is a paperback rather than a board book for flaps are quite flimsy so little hands would need to take care to not rip the flaps off the page.

Overall I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a wintery tale to read with a young child.
