This is a really wonderful and fresh take on a traditional story. The new spin is wonderfully unique, whilst maintaining the original sweetness of the “five little ducks” childrens rhyme. The illustrations are gorgeous, and this is certainly one that I know my Son would absolutely delight in exploring, as would many of the children and parents within my Support Groups!
I love the fact that this uses penguins rather than sticking to the traditional idea of ducks, it’s similar enough to have that comfortably familiar feel, whilst being different enough to feel new. Maintaining that storyline and pattern of the tune makes it familiar for children, and therefore easy for them to follow and connect with, whilst still teaching them new words and sounds. All in all, it’s a beautiful twist to a traditional rhyme, that parents and children alike can enjoy from cover to cover, and the lift the flap elements will be tonnes of fun for children to explore!
