There has been a lot of thought out into the making of this childrens book. It combines learning of letter, numbers and emotional intelligence and E wraps in a Christmas format. There is illustrations that allow you to see the family of penguins on their adventures and hidden beneath flaps are more images. This keeps the interaction between reader and child vividly alert and the emotional elements skim skilfully through excitement, fear, sadness and joyful reunion. The winter wonderland is the ideal setting for a Christmas feel and the magnificent imagery at the end is a delightful combination of family reunited around a festive tree and shows the children penguins back with gifts to adorn the tree with. It is a well paced storyline and the number theme is simple yet effective and soon had us all counting along in a sing song manner.
