Not much of a story

This book was full of really cute pictures and festive imagery, and I liked the interactivity of the lift-the-flap parts, but there really wasn't any story to speak of unfortunately. Basically penguins gradually go missing then turn up at the end! The mummy penguin doesn't seem particularly fussed that her babies are disappearing (hope kids don't get any ideas about wandering off from their parents with no consequences from reading this), and when the penguins eventually reappear on the last page, it would be nice if they'd prepared a surprise or something for mummy penguin, but there's just nothing! I understand that repetition helps kids learn, but the wording on each page is practically exactly the same so it's not the most exciting of books for parents to read. Sadly I found this book disappointing, so I can only give it 2 stars.
