Oh I enjoyed this story! I do love a well told historical fiction novel and this was exactly that!
We began with hint of what was to come, with a look into the future of the characters life, the first chapter begins before the MC is even convicted of any crimes. The suspense is instant, I was intrigued and couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.
Occasionally the pace of the story would slow down to a more climatic speed, but often it was full of drama and action.
I loved that this novel is based on a true story, it adds to the emotional connection with the main character who goes through many trials and tribulations throughout the book.
For a debut novel this is an impressive, dramatic historical fiction book.
