I love historical fiction, and fiction being the key word as this book is only based very loosely on facts as it goes far beyond the known history of Mary Bryant (whom this story is inspired by) I enjoy the way the author had such creative freedom with the novel whilst still sticking with the main facts. Very enthralling story, once you get past the slightly slow start, and I would definitely recommend it to history lovers like myself. Although it's hard to make the story of a highway woman shipped off to a British settlement in Australia boring. Faced with famine and poverty Jenny, the protagonist, must do what she can to survive and suddenly finds herself the leader of a starving colony and their plan to escape. I would definitely recommend
