Being that one of my favourite genres is historical fiction I thought that this book would be one that I'd really enjoy.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case and I struggled to get into it.
I didn't feel particularly inclined to any of the characters and the story didn't grip me as I hoped it would which is disappointing but maybe that's because I don't have much, if any, knowledge of this period in time.
The writing didn't pull me in and I found myself leaving it for quite a long time between picking it back up to read and it felt like it took a really long time to get through.
I'm sure that people who do know a bit about this time period will find it a more interesting and gripping read but that just wasn't the case for me.
