The first line, being all description, was not exactly the most interesting however, the more I read the more the characters started to take shape. A rare owl flies into Cassie's room and she enlists the help of her close friend Raphael to nurture/nurse the owl back to health. Is there a romantic link between the friends? there are other secrets. Why promise granddaughter Cassie to keep the owls? It piqued my interest.
