Great for readers who like: gothic adventures, books about angels and magic, books set in the past.

Fledgling is a dark gothic adventure about friendship and family, love and angels. Cassie Engel lives in a remote and towering house built into a rock face, and added to with each generation of her family. When a cherub is blown into her bedroom during a storm, Cassie’s life is turned upside down. Something dark is out there, and with her distant parents - self absorbed opera singer mother and absent taxidermist father - it’s up to Cassie and her friend Gabriel to uncover the mystery and protect everything they hold dear from the dark forces gathering.

Full of twisting mystery and adventure, an eerie Bavarian forest setting with giant bird like predators, and a topsy-turvy house unlike any other with its strange inventions, this book is sure to keep readers hooked to the last page! This is a beautiful book which drew me in with memorable characters, and a breathtaking story. This is also a poignant book about love and loss, and one that is sure to stay in the memory for both its uniqueness and emotional journey. A great additional to any bookshelf.
