This book has such a unique premises that I haven't come across before - a mix of fairytale with a hint of darkness and gothic themes. The story follows Cassie whose world is changed when a strange angelic creature is blown into her room. Will Cassie be able to protect what she holds dear?

I love the wild imagination of the story. There are many strange events happening and dangers that Cassie faces when trying to save her family and friends. There are also some plot twists. I like the setting of a Bavarian forest which really sets the dark tone to the book. Furthermore, the development in characters are good - Cassie and Raphael are quite likeable.

In terms of the writing style, it is rather simplistic which is ideal for middle grade, as this book is aimed at 9+. It's easy to read which makes the plot easy to follow.

Overall a good read and suitable for older children.
