I was first drawn to Fledgling because of its most beautiful front cover. With the stars and the feathers shining it looked a beautiful read for Autumn.

The story begins in 1900 in Bavaria with a brief introduction of Cassie and her unusual home up high looking down on the town of Edinburg which was built by her great-great-grandfather.

A storm is brewing. Among the wind and the rain there is a tap and a face at Cassie’s window. A cherub. Cassie calls for her friend Raphael to help. Then we are swept up into the action immediately as Lucy Hope’s tale of angels unfolds. Cassie and Raphael need to uncover the secrets and find out why this cherub has been sent all whilst battling the evil Sturmfalke creatures that are determined to stop the rising of angels.

This really was beautifully written. The author has created a magical world and the descriptions made me feel like I was right there too. Interesting and with a twist ending I didn’t see coming!
