The story starts with a description of the main character's family. Hr ancestors built a mansion-like home at the top of a rock. There is a heavy storm in which a cherub(one of the unearthly beings who directly attend to God, according to Abrahamic religions. The numerous depictions of cherubim assign to them many different roles, such as protecting the entrance of the Garden of Eden - Yes I had to google it but it is so fun that I got to know another element of the Bible) falling into the bed of our main character. Her mother doesn't really seems like she cares for her daughter or anything else in the first few chapters of the story, so she turns to a friend called Raphael. She doesn't even have a dad - he disappeared. Cassie (our main character) must discover if its arrival was an accident or part of something more sinister.
